Saxony is, by historical tradition, one of the greatest centers of German culture and music. The composers Johann Sebastian Bach, Richard Strauss, Richard Wagner, Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy and Heinrich Schutz all came from Saxony.
Saxony is also famous for its elaborate palaces and intricately groomed gardens. The Dresden Zwinger, Moritzburg Palace, Rammenau Palace and Pillnitz Palace with its park are a few notable examples.
Popular tourist sites in this state include the Semper Opera in Dresden, the New Trade Fair Hall in Leipzig and the Elbe Sandstone Mountain Range.
